The Center for Pediatric Endocrinology Zurich (PEZZ, an abbreviation of the german name "Pädiatrisch-Endokrinologisches Zentrum Zürich") was founded on December 23, 1992. It was named until March 2007 "Institute Growth Puberty Adolescence". For 20 years the Center for Pediatric Endocrinology Zurich has been dedicated to the children and their families in order to guarantee highest quality care in a personal and non-sterile atmosphere.
Closely linked to the clinical work the Center for Pediatric Endocrinology Zurich is one of the largest private research centres for pediatric and adolescent medicine in Switzerland. The main areas of research are:
- The regulation of growth and sexual development and how they are affected and treated in different conditions of disease.
- Studies on body compositional changes during childhood and puberty, and how they relate to physical activity, eating behaviour and education and genetic background.
- What are the causes of eating disorders, obesity or anorexia, and how can they be treated effectively?
Finally the Center for Pediatric Endocrinology Zurich is very active in teaching physicians and other health care professionals. Moreover we published several brochures and books which are addressed not only to medically trained staff but also to the children and adolescents themselves, as well as to their parents.
Improving quality of life for a happy future – this is our aim.
